What Data We Collect and Why
Contact Form
When you submit a message through our contact form, we collect the information you provide: your name, email address, subject, and message. If you opt in to the newsletter checkbox, your email address is also added to our mailing list. We use this data to respond to your inquiry and, with your consent, to send periodic updates.
Newsletter
When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address (and any other information you choose to provide). Subscriber data is managed by MailerLite, our email service provider. We use it to send you fly fishing articles, gear reviews, and site updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how visitors use the site — which articles are read, which categories are popular, and how people arrive. This may include Google Analytics or a comparable platform such as SiteScope. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify individual visitors. We do not load analytics scripts until you have had the opportunity to accept or decline.
Server Logs
Our hosting provider may automatically collect standard server log data, including your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you visit. This data is used for security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. It is not combined with other data to identify individuals.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to make the site work and to support optional analytics. Strictly necessary cookies (including any consent preference) are always set. Analytics cookies are only set if you have consented. Embedded content from third parties (for example MailerLite forms) may set their own cookies; refer to their privacy policies for details.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data. Data may be shared only with the service providers required to operate the site:
- Hosting provider — to serve the website and store server logs.
- MailerLite — to manage newsletter subscriptions and send email.
- Google / SiteScope or comparable analytics — if you consent, for site analytics.
- Form processor — contact form submissions are processed by a backend service operated by the site owner.
How Long We Retain Your Data
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond and no longer than 2 years. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data follows the default retention settings of each platform (typically 14 months). Server logs follow the hosting provider's policy, typically no longer than 90 days.
Your Rights Over Your Data
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time
